Greetings from Fresno! This morning, after packing the kids’ lunches and sending ’em off to school, I threw some rations in my bag and hit the road. Two-and-a-half hours later, I arrived in the foggy Central Valley to meet up with Hillori Hansen of Whole Foods Fresno to shoot a live segment at the local NBC affiliate.
This was my second television appearance this week, but as you can see from the clips below, I am SO not a TV person. I don’t know what to do with my hands, I don’t know where to stand, and for some reason, I tend to open my eyes super-wide when I’m on camera. BUT! I wasn’t nervous, ’cause Hillori and Alex Delgado (the cheerily effervescent host of KSEE24’s Central Valley Today) kept cracking me up—and when I’m giggling, I tend to let my guard down and say inappropriate things.
You know—things like “butt.” And “pee.” And “crap.” And now you know how I normally talk. Here’s the first clip:
Still, when I wasn’t prattling on about farts, I managed to show off a few of my classic Super Bowl-friendly recipes. Check out the second segment here:
Yeah, I know we still have another week of Deflategate debates before the Big Game, but I figure I’d share these recipes with you in advance.
So without further ado:
- Whole30 Sriracha!
- Homemade Paleo Mayo! (And did you see that Mark Sisson’s Primal Kitchen will soon be selling pre-made Paleo mayonnaise? I tried it, and it’s legit, people.)
- Perfect Hard Boiled Eggs!
- Chile Lime Chicken Wings (which was on my Whole30 Super Bowl menu last year)!
- Porkitos (a.k.a. Crispy Prosciutto Chips)!
- Guacamole!
My recipe for Lazy Devils can only be found in my cookbook and my iPad app, but I’m sure all you smarty-pants can figure out how to make ’em from just watching my segment.
Okay—gotta go sink into my hotel bed and get some rest before my Q&A and book signing at Whole Foods Fresno tomorrow (Saturday, January 23rd). If you’re in the neighborhood from 11am to 1pm, be sure to RSVP and come say hi!
