30 Minute Lunch: Crispy Chicken Thighs, Garlic Cauliflower Mashed “Potatoes,” and Sautéed Spinach with Shallots
Dinner on 4.5 Hours of Sleep: Sous Vide Chicken Breast with Roasted Bell Peppers, Sautéed Mushrooms, and Broccoli
Ever since going on Paleo, have you not missed the typical Asian dishes like peking duck, hainan chicken rice, charsu pork, sea cucumber in hoisin sauce, ramen noodles, soba, etc?
Have you cut out all fruit? Also what brand do you use for bacon? Thanks for everything your site is awesome…and it looks like my engineer/boyfriend is building be a sous vide so thanks for the link.
Hello So glad I found your blog. I’ve been thinking about going paleo for a long time but couldn’t wrap my mind around what to eat during my week of 12 hour over night shifts. We seem to work a similar schedule and I appreciate seeing how you manage food for work-it’s been a great help to me. I now know this is not nearly as difficult as I was trying to make it and I’m eating so much better at work! Thank you!
Hello There, I came across your blog last weekend and instantly fell in love! it’s nice to see a day by day of what you eat and do. As of lately I had been running out of reciepes, but your blog and a few others helped me back into the light. I wanted to ask about your CSA, what do you do when you get items you don’t want? Like potatoes. Also when you buy your sides of meat, do they (full of life farm) also let you make special orders like for beef/pork fat? I’ve been trying to gear up my boyfriend to make the switch to eating clean and so far so good. Only a matter of saving up the moolah to buy the food and freezer. Thanks in advance!! -Angela (Sunnyvale, CA)
Hello, I am a Soldier stationed in Germany and was looking into CSA. I was curious if you, or anyone, knew where I could find resources about CSA’s out here. Thanks! -Matt
Hello, Your paleo pages, are very very nice and great! (i am from Europe, Hungary, (and a little bit hungry:)) and my english is bad :)) I would like to say to you, I think: the peas and beans are NOT paleo stuffs?!, and i remember the tomatoes are not paleo food too? anyway i like your kitchen :), thank you very much
Hi M – Love the blog, especially your recipes. I was wondering if you’ve experimented with cooking offal at home yet. If so, care to share some recipes?! I just cooked chicken liver for the first time tonight and was pleasantly surprised to like it. I followed this recipe from Epicurious, subbing a bosc pear for the grapes since I didn’t have any. I’d recommend it! http://www.epicurious.com/recipes/food/views/Chicken-Livers-with-Grapes-and-Caramelized-Onions-235725 -Meghan
Hi, I have just discovered your blog and it gives me hope my family can try the Paleo diet. We are of Italian heritage living in Australia so giving up the pasta is going to be difficult. I am at aloss for breakfast ideas. My husband has porridge (oats) and i have a green smoothie. I’m hoping my smoothie will still be ok. Also i have milk in my tea. Is a little milk ok or should i give up tea completely? I can’t manage it black. I like the idea of mini frittatas. Can i use a little cream with the eggs? I’m a bit lost with the whole new way of eating and will keep researching. Thanks for any help you can give me.
Hi, I’m interested in this way of eating. I eat a lot of animal products. Nothing processed and currently no grains…but I think I’m going to add some in. I’m a 30 year old female that is at an extremely low weight. So, I need to gain. But I can’t stomach way too much fat or animal meats-fish-poultry (I eat a lot of oils and those meat sources, and eggs as it). So, I also eat a lot of dairy, whey, potatoes, squash, vegetables, nuts, etc. But I feel I might just add some grains and things anyway, just to not be obsessive. Thoughts?
I had been craving your crispy chicken thighs, but alas, I don’t have a sous vide machine, so I had to do it another way. I just baked them at 350 for about 20 minutes, then followed your method. It worked great, and they’re very tasty. Thanks for the idea!
I have 3 kiddos age 10, 7 and 4 and their diet isn’t very health. Do your children follow the paleo-diet too? Do they eat the same foods as you or do you have to make them differently?
I only ask this because as I try to adopt a paleo lifestyle for myself and my family, I’ve become an unabashed nom nom paleo copycat… seriously, thanks for all tips and recipes! So you recently attended the Whole9 Nutrition Workshop… and I just *started* reading their site… so my question is about pork. As I understand it, the folks at Whole9 basically say “no pork” (for a bunch of reasons). You eat pork (like that ground pork stir-fry with the Arizona Dreamin’ spice – which is freakin’ awesome, BTW)… do you ever plan on cutting it out, or are you cool with it?
I remember you mentioned that you probay would have bought the demi instead of the supreme if it bad been available. Still feel that way? My wife is a little on the fence about eating out of plastic. I wasn’t really that concerned until I googled it and of course found various results of phthalates and bpa transfer depending on the plastic product. Were you ever concerned about any of that? Seems like a simple formula that if you cook it long enough at the right temp, it gets done and kills bacteria so that side of the “sous vise isnt tested/safe is taken care of. As someone who gets varied results with cooking meat, it sure would be nice to get it to come out as nice as some of your pictures. thanks for a great site. ps with best wishes for your mother in law.
I saw your meat csa post yesterday and I checked out their website – very cool idea and I’m interested myself. Just curious, which package do you get?
I thought you and Fitbomb would find the Sardine Society Site informative and amusing (http://www.sardinesociety.com/). There is plenty of fishy food porn, so be warned. Thank you for continuing to share with us your Paleo adventures.
I thought you and fitbomb would find this interesting. I don’t think my homeowner’s insurance would like for me to build and cook with one of these.
Just wondering, why did you choose to go lacto-Paleo and not strict Paleo? Anyway, love your photos and blog posts. Keep kicking ass at CrossFit (I’m a CrossFitter myself and love it)!
Love your site! I’m wondering what type and brand of vacuum sealer you’re using for sous vide. Thanks!
My sous vide cooker was just delivered. I was looking for a site with good guidance and recipes. Your’s is perfect. Great information and insight. Have you sous vide frozen meat? Chicken thighs or steaks?
OK. Got it to work (I think) but it did take a bit of hacking. Looking forward to trying some of your recipes. I have a sous vide, too, so was excited to see you use it regularly. Plus, you “operate” in my neck of the woods… SF Bay Area. Best, Cindy
One question I have is what do you do when you cant afford organic stuff due to budget? Organic stuff cost 2x as much for less, can you provide a list or a budget friendly Paleo list. My month food bill is 300 a month and that is for 3 people.
Thanks for the links about coconut oil. Why do you and fitbomb eat mac nuts as your snacks? I was under the impression that almonds where the best choice for snacking when it came to nuts. Also, do you limit the serving of mac nuts per day? – Steve
What are the best mail order sites for coconut oil and coconut flakes? I have found a bunch but just am unsure as to which ones are quality and which ones kinda suck. Also, do you use avocado oil? Thanks! Your site is terrific!
What is the benefits of Sous Vide(ing?) your food rather than baking, sauteeing etc. The only thing I’m picking up on is that this seems like poaching meat but being able to flavor with herbs and rub.

Where do you get your coconut flakes/what brand do you use? I can only find sweetened flakes. Thanks!
WOW. I’m struggling to find words to describe how excited I am to have found your blog… The food looks amazing, the photography is superb, and the frequency of your posts is incredible! You have no idea how much easier this is going to make my recent switch to the “paleo” lifestyle. Thank you, thank you, thank you. Sincerely. P.S. Sorry for abusing the “Ask me stuff” box–I know none of this was a question. :P

you are amazing! I love to cook, but have a hard time figuring out tasty paleo eats…your blog has totally helped, keep it up! ps: where can I get a sous vide in Palo Alto, would love to meet you at CFPA one day:)
You have a beautiful kitchen. Great recipes and love the photos. I would love a rundown on what gear you use. Pots, pans, storage, everything. Thanks!
