I started my night shift buzzing from the excitement of successfully executing a double-under AND downing 20 ounces of java from Phil’z Coffee. Yes, I know that’s too much caffeine for an intermittent coffee drinker like me but the jitters and palpitations are worth it.

A few hours into my night shift, I ate some leftover Thai yellow curry with grass fed beef brisket and roasted cauliflower.

I wasn’t hungry until the end of my shift when I ate a small serving of leftover emergency protein over nuked frozen broccoli.

After I got home, I chilled out with my boys until around 10:00 a.m. when I went to bed.

I woke up an hour earlier than usual ‘cause it was too damn hot and sunny. Summer’s a real bitch for nightshift workers.

I wanted something quick and easy to make for dinner (quelle surprise!) so I made a large helping of semi-homemade zucchini spaghetti and meatballs.

I also ate a handful of Bing cherries for dessert.

Afterwards, I did some burpees and practiced double-unders before heading to work. I worked up to SEVEN double-unders (not consecutively) before getting tripped up in the rope. You CAN teach old bitches new tricks!

About Michelle Tam

Hello! My name is Michelle Tam, and I love to eat. I think about food all the time. It borders on obsession. I’ve always loved the sights and smells of the kitchen. My mother was (and is) an excellent cook, and as a kid, I was her little shadow as she prepared supper each night. From her, I gained a deep, abiding love for magically transforming pantry items into mouth-watering family meals.
