Hello, hello!

During my graveyard shift at the hospital, I ate some leftover Oven-Braised Mexican Beef and frozen broccoli…

…a package of Brad’s Raw Kale Chips (Thanks, Anya!)…

…and some roasted chestnuts.

When I returned to the hotel in the morning, I found the Double-Os rocking out (quietly) to Weird Al Yankovic.

My two boys are HUGE Weird Al fans. I’m so proud that I’m raising two wee geeks – Lil-O proudly proclaims, “We’re not white, but we’re nerdy” all the time.

After I dropped Big-O off at school and turned the little guy over to my parents, I promptly passed out in the guest room (the one room in our house not affected by construction).

In the evening, I woke up later than expected and hustled to fix supper. I mixed a batch of Graeme’s WODs and popped them in the oven…

…steam-sautéed two small heads of purple cauliflower…

…and stir-fried a bunch of chard.

When the WODs were finished baking…

…I heated a cup of jarred marinara sauce and tossed them in.

My favorite jarred marinara sauce is still Rao’s but The Silver Palate’s not bad in a pinch.

(FYI, this sauce ain’t Whole30-compliant because it contains honey.)

Here’s my dinner plate:

Since our dining room table (and the rest of our furniture) is in storage, we dined al fresco in the backyard.

We all love eating outside because clean up’s easy and the boys can run around one last time in the twilight.

Big-O was even able to practice batting before bedtime.

After dinner, we packed up our stuff and made our nightly pilgrimage to the hotel. Once the kiddos were fast asleep jabbering in bed, I assembled my nosh for work and took off for another productive night at the hospital.

Catch you on the flip side!

About Michelle Tam

Hello! My name is Michelle Tam, and I love to eat. I think about food all the time. It borders on obsession. I’ve always loved the sights and smells of the kitchen. My mother was (and is) an excellent cook, and as a kid, I was her little shadow as she prepared supper each night. From her, I gained a deep, abiding love for magically transforming pantry items into mouth-watering family meals.
