Yay! It’s finally my hump day at work! Too bad I still have 40 hours of work left this week…

My first nosh at work was a snack-size portion of Trader Joe’s organic peppered beef jerky. Okay folks, this ain’t my favorite jerky – it’s too sweet (yes, it has sugar in it), contains soy sauce (gluten free), and has an icky wet texture. Blargh! I guess it serves me right for choosing cheap and convenient over making my own – or commissioning hubby to make some.

With the icky taste of bad jerky still fresh in my mouth, I went online and ordered a bunch of Sophia’s Survival Food Grass Fed Jerky Chews.

I’ve wanted to try some ever since I read this glowing review on Sleep. Love. Eat. Plus, she’s a local gal based out of Sunnyvale, CA.

For my lunch at work, I ate some leftover sous vide Turkish slider burgers, roasted bell peppers, stir-fried spigarello and bacon

…and a small container of coconut flakes.

The last meal I ate at work was leftover slow cooker roast chicken and gravy, sugar snap peas, and sautéed shiitake mushrooms.

When I got home, I was greeted with hugs and kisses from my boys for Mother’s Day. Love it! Then, the boys and I made some apple cinnamon cookies care of Civilized Caveman Cooking.

These cookies are TASTY…

…so I HAD to eat a couple before getting some shuteye.

When I woke up in the evening, the house was eerily quiet because hubby and the kids were in the east bay celebrating Mother’s Day with his folks. Since I was picking up take-out for dinner, I had time to exercise in the garage – and give myself a black eye. WTF is right.

While I was practicing assisted ring-dips, my knees slipped and the elastic band snapped me right in the face. Yowza! I actually saw stars. It took me a few seconds to figure out that my nose was intact and my right eyeball wasn’t lying on the ground. Guess I’ll have some ‘splainin’ to do when my shiner develops in the morning…

For dinner, I picked up a side of kufta kabab, scharwerma. and labneh from Mediterranean Wraps. I plated myself half the meat, a dollop of labneh, a baked yam, and leftover sugar snap peas.

Mediterranean Wraps had fallen off our regular take-out rotation and I remembered why when I ate my dinner – the schwerma was grisly and the kofte was overcooked and underseasoned. Harumph.

After dinner, hubby and the kids returned so I was able to squeeze in some mommy time before going to work. It just might be too dangerous to leave me at home by myself…

About Michelle Tam

Hello! My name is Michelle Tam, and I love to eat. I think about food all the time. It borders on obsession. I’ve always loved the sights and smells of the kitchen. My mother was (and is) an excellent cook, and as a kid, I was her little shadow as she prepared supper each night. From her, I gained a deep, abiding love for magically transforming pantry items into mouth-watering family meals.
