Ingredients

  • 2 large garnet yams/sweet potatoes
  • 2 tablespoons avocado oil extra virgin olive oil, or melted coconut oil (use avocado oil spray for air fryer fries)
  • Diamond Crystal kosher salt to taste
  • Freshly ground pepper to taste
  • Smoked paprika or your favorite seasoning – ground cinnamon works well, too!

Instructions

Oven instructions

  • Heat the oven to 375°F on convection bake (or 400°F in a non-convection oven).
  • Peel the sweet potatoes and cut them into even matchsticks. Place them on a foil- or parchment-lined baking tray (parchment paper will yield a crisper exterior) and toss the yams with your fat of choice, salt, pepper, and smoked paprika.
  • Pop the fries in the oven for about 30 minutes, flipping the frites and rotating the tray halfway through.
  • When the fries are tender in the middle and browned on the edges, plate them up and dig in!

Air Fryer Instructions

  • Preheat the air fryer to 375°F.
  • Coat the sweet potato fries with avocado oil spray and sprinkle on the seasonings.
  • Place the fries in a single layer in the air fryer and cook for 15 to 20 minutes or until the fries are cooked through and crispy on the outside. Make sure to shake the air fryer basket every 8 minutes or so to ensure even cooking.

Notes

I love serving these sweet potato fries with my Big-O Bacon Burgers or Nomster Burgers. Don't forget to bring out your favorite dipping sauces like ketchup or your favorite fry sauce!
