**THE GIVEAWAY IS OVER! CONGRATS TO DANIELLA H.!**

I’m still recovering from my blink-and-you-missed-it trip to New York City. When I get a second, I’ll write about this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity of partying at the 18th Annual Webby Awards with George Takei (okay, we were just in the same room). Plus, I got to do what I always do in NYC: eat my way through the city. But to be honest, I’m glad to be home. I’m thrilled to have this holiday weekend to make up for lost sleep and snuggles with my favorite guys.

While I recharge, how ’bout I host another giveaway?

Giveaway Time: Vitamix S30 by Michelle Tam http://nomnompaleo.com

Thanks to the fine folks at Vitamix, one lucky reader’s going to win a brand-new Vitamix S30 Blender—a $409 value!

I’ve been a loyal fan of Vitamix for years, and my trusty 5200 is still a workhorse in my kitchen. Still, I’d long eyed a more compact version of my super-powerful blender—one that takes up less storage space and can be used whenever I whip up small-volume recipes.

Then, out of the blue, Vitamix contacted me a few months ago to test-drive its new personal-size blender, the S30—and as soon as I unboxed it, I knew I was in love. The S30 may be smaller, but it’s still crazy powerful. Plus, it comes with two blending containers: a 20-ounce double-insulated portable carafe and a 40-ounce unit, too.

In less than two weeks, I’ll be bound for the Big Apple to receive our People’s Voice Webby Award! Thanks to those of you who voted for our iPad app, we managed to best Jamie Oliver(!) in the popular vote. (Don’t worry, Jamie fans—the Naked Chef still managed to pick up three Webby Awards!)

NYC’s one of my favorite food cities in the world, so you can imagine how excited I am to return. This time, I’m definitely going to make it over to Hu Kitchen, Manhattan’s preeminent Paleo joint. Hu Kitchen serves up tasty, nourishing grub, and offers an incredible selection of grab-and-go options, too.

I know: I’m late to the game. Henry’s already enjoyed meals at Hu Kitchen, a bunch of my pals have hosted book events there, and the place even has a gigantic sign outside that says “FOOD FOR HUMANS”—the same phrase I used for the subtitle of my cookbook. Honestly, I have no excuses for not visiting sooner…except for the fact that I live 3,000 miles away.

Now, with the Webby Awards ceremony around the corner, I finally have the perfect excuse to haul my butt over there. In fact, I’m excited to announce that my one and only New York City book event will be hosted at Hu Kitchen on Tuesday, May 20th at 7 pm!

To date, I haven’t done any book signings on the East Coast, so I hope to see you at Hu Kitchen. Bring your books and/or buy them at the event, and I’ll happily scribble all over them. As an added bonus, I’ll be giving away stuff, including Nom Nom Paleo swag and a couple of Hamilton Beach slow cookers. Don’t miss out—the event is absolutely free of charge, but please RSVP by clicking here!

Not close enough to Hu Kitchen to come see me? Turn that frown upside-down, ’cause I have a thank-you giveaway that EVERYONE can enter. What’s up for grabs? Three lucky winners will receive a personalized Nom Nom Paleo prize package that includes a brand-spankin’ new copy of our cookbook, a limited edition Nom Nom Paleo action figure, a Nom Nom Paleo tote bag, and a pair of unisex Nom Nom Paleo knee socks. Anyone in the whole wide world can enter, and I’ll scrawl a personalized note in the book! (I’ll even force my kids to sign it!) Click the picture below to enter:

On Tuesday morning, as I got ready to conk out after the end of another night shift at the hospital, I lazily scanned my Twitter feed one last time with eyes half shut. All of a sudden, I spied this shocker:

Zoinks! Our Nom Nom Paleo iPad app has been nominated for a Webby Award—a.k.a. “the Oscars of the Internet”!

I almost knocked the amber goggles off my face as I frantically texted the happy surprise to Henry. This was completely unexpected, as we hadn’t even submitted our app for consideration. (I’m guessing our developer did. If so, thank you, Y Media Labs!)

We’re grateful, giddy, and humbled that our iPad app has been recognized with a nomination for what the New York Times has called “the Internet’s highest official honor for excellence.” (And besides: any awards ceremony that limits acceptance speeches to only five words is a winner in my book.)

Please vote for Nom Nom Paleo (if you haven’t already) by clicking here! And thank you for continuing to support our little mom ’n pop operation—we couldn’t do this without you!

To celebrate our Webby nomination, Henry and I feel like partying it up. In fact, we want to feast with a small group of awesome Nomsters like you in San Francisco. Sound like fun? Then you’re going to want to enter my latest giveaway!

Giveaway: GIR Spatulas!

**UPDATE: The giveaway is over and the 4 winners have been contacted via email! Please check your inbox!**

Remember when I wrote about my 13 Essential Tools for the Paleo Kitchen? Well, that was just the tip of the iceberg. My house is filled with everything from spiral slicers and deli slicers to sous vide cookers and multiple pressure cookers. I have gyuto knives, julienne peelers, and dishers of every conceivable size. My ever-growing collection drives my neat freak husband bananas, but hey: all these doodads make cooking more fun, and they help get food onto the dinner table. So there.

Still, this doesn’t mean I’ll buy just any old crappy gadget I spot on Pinterest or late night infomercials. I’m a discriminating gadget queen, and always make sure to do my research on sites like ConsumerSearch, Cook’s Illustrated, and The Sweethome before plunking down my cash. I also pay heed to the advice of my favorite culinary gurus like Michael Ruhlman, who long ago convinced me that rounded wooden spoons are stupid:

I have only one thing to add to Michael’s rant against wooden spoons: while I agree that wood remains a “great material” for cooking implements, I’ve come to prefer kitchen tools that don’t warp, stain, or scorch over time. That’s why I switched to flat-edged, silicone-headed spatulas a few years ago. But they’re certainly not perfect, either: The silicone heads can be too floppy (which can make mixing a challenge), and I have to separate the heads from the handles every time I wash ’em (or risk mildew growth—yuck). Plus, they’re kind of blah-looking.

But then, a few months ago, the clouds parted.

GIR Spatula Giveaway! by Michelle Tam http://nomnompaleo.com

Earlier this year, at the Food Blog Forum in Orlando, I fished a gorgeous blue GIR spatula out of my swag bag. GIR stands for “Get It Right”—and the creators certainly did just that. I was instantly struck by the spatula’s sleek design, super-comfortable grip, and well balanced heft. I couldn’t wait to try it out.

In the months since, I’ve used my GIR spatula for all manner of kitchen tasks, from folding and mixing "ice cream" to make bon bons

…to sautéing onions and flipping burger patties.

GIR spatulas are truly fantastic, and as sturdy as they are beautiful. Unlike their wooden (or wood-and-silicone) counterparts, GIR spatulas won’t warp or burn—nor will they stain after stirring a pot of marinara sauce. Also, the full-body silicone construction means I don’t have pull the head off the handle before tossing it in the dishwasher.

And did I mention that the design is a feast for the eyes?

Seriously: I love my GIR spatulas. Priced at $22.50 each, these babies aren’t cheap, but they’re well worth the price. Don’t believe me? Lucky for you, a few of my lucky readers will win three of their own GIR spatulas—for free!
