Forky Friday: 10/3/14 by Michelle Tam https://nomnompaleo.com

Loyal Nomsters: your weekly dose of Friday forkiness is here! Today, I’m announcing a fast-approaching appearance in Portlandia, previewing our long-awaited iPad app update, crushing on Paleo on TV, and offering other tempting goodies! Let’s hop to it, shall we?

See You In Portland!

Want to join me and Chef Gregory Gourdet at Departure Restaurant + Lounge for our special Nom Nom Paleo Pop-Up Brunch next Saturday, October 11th? Yeah, I know this is super-short notice, but GG and I just came up with this plan last night, and finalized the details in the past few hours!

I can’t tell you how much I love GG—he’s humble, crazy-talented, and generous both in spirit and time. The guy works around-the-clock, and still manages to hang with us and the kids every time we pop into town. I was not at all surprised that he’s going to be on the upcoming season of Top Chef Boston. Our entire family is 100% pushing for #TeamGG for the win.

I swear: we’re probably going to make T-shirts and host viewing parties.

Earlier this year, GG hosted a one-of-a-kind Paleo dinner at Departure to celebrate the launch of my cookbook. It was over-the-top incredible—check out the video and photos below if you don’t believe me—and I know this brunch will be no different.

Android Users: Avert Your Eyes

Psst…Nom Nom Paleo iPad app users! When Apple rolled out iOS 8 a week ago, our Webby award-winning app kind of crapped out. It didn’t play nicely with iOS 8, and crashed every time the “Home” or ”Back” buttons were pressed.

Not good.

But now, I’m thrilled (mostly relieved, actually) to announce that our developers have fixed all the glitches and bugs, and a new iOS 8-friendly update is now available in the App Store! Download or update the app by visiting the App Store. And if you enjoy it, please rate and review it—your feedback makes a tremendous impact!

Also, keep your eyes peeled for a super groovy design update later this year. Here’s a sneak peek at the new layout:

We’re in love with the new user interface and can’t wait to release it to you guys in a few months—along with new recipes and functionality!

Paleo on GMA

It’s weird how giddy I get when I see Paleo folks get airtime on network TV, so when I saw this segment on Good Morning America featuring Mark Sisson and the fine chocolatiers from Eating Evolved, I told everyone I know to check it out. Besides, I like knowing I’m not the only crazy person who wears amber goggles around the house.

Give This Grain-Free Flour Blend a Kickstart!

Shauna Ahern (a.k.a. The Gluten-Free Girl) reached out to me this week to share that she and Dan, her hubby, have concocted a couple of gluten-free flour blends—and one is grain-free to boot! You guys know I’m not a baker, but I appreciate that many of you are looking for a great gluten-free flour to make the occasional treat. You can go help Shauna and Dan by supporting their Kickstarter here!

Crisp It Up!

Forky Friday: 10/3/14 by Michelle Tam https://nomnompaleo.com

No one’s ever asked me about my favorite food texture. But if anyone ever did, I would tell ’em without hesitation: CRISPY. That’s why you’ll find a bunch of Paleo Chip recipes on my blog—from Porkitos to Kale Chips, and Mushroom Chips to Brussels Sprouts Chips—and that’s also why I created Cracklin’ Chicken.

If you like your food to have some crunch to it, make these fab new recipes from around the web:

I will say, though, that there is one crunchy Paleo-friendly food I’m not dying to eat: ants. (I would, though. Just like the time we ate fried worms.)

Ciao for now—and I hope to see you in Portland!

About Michelle Tam

Hello! My name is Michelle Tam, and I love to eat. I think about food all the time. It borders on obsession. I’ve always loved the sights and smells of the kitchen. My mother was (and is) an excellent cook, and as a kid, I was her little shadow as she prepared supper each night. From her, I gained a deep, abiding love for magically transforming pantry items into mouth-watering family meals.
