Our veggie CSA, Two Small Farms, has a winter hiatus every year from December to March, so come December I buy my produce at the grocery store or farmers’ market.

Truth be told, I end up shopping more at the grocery store since most weekend mornings I’m too wimpy to brave the cold and rain to grab my weekly greens at the outdoor market. As a result, my winter veggies are normally lackluster and boring because it’s the same-old, hearty cruciferous stuff at my neighborhood market. Haven’t you noticed all the cauliflower, broccoli, and cabbage I’ve been cooking?

This winter, I’m joining Full Belly Farm’s CSA for three months. My first box comes next week and I can’t wait to see what’s in it. Full Belly Farms is my favorite stands at my local farmers’ market. They always have an awesome variety of yummy organic food for sale including homemade almond butter, delicious tomatoes, and juicy melons. When Two Small Farms resumes deliveries in March, there will be a few weeks when I’ll be receiving boxes from both farms. This shouldn’t be a problem because I’ve had to supplement my weekly CSA box with additional veggies since going Paleo.

Who knows? I may end up extending my Full Belly Farm subscription and belong to two different CSAs. I’m crazy like that.

About Michelle Tam

Hello! My name is Michelle Tam, and I love to eat. I think about food all the time. It borders on obsession. I’ve always loved the sights and smells of the kitchen. My mother was (and is) an excellent cook, and as a kid, I was her little shadow as she prepared supper each night. From her, I gained a deep, abiding love for magically transforming pantry items into mouth-watering family meals.
