It finally feels like autumn in the Bay Area, especially with the blustery winds whipping crispy, dead leaves into our entryway. It’s the perfect weather for sleeping during the day – but there’s no way in hell I’m regretting taking PTO.

For breakfast this morning, I ate a French omelet with leftover mini burgers and sliced tomatoes.

I also chowed on a handful of macadamia nuts before heading to Lil-O’s school to fulfill my semi-monthly participating parent duties. While at the co-op, I proudly sported an Eat Like a Dino long-sleeve T-shirt from Paleo Parents and got tons of compliments from the kiddies and teachers.

When I returned home at lunchtime, I reheated leftovers from the other night: slow cooker roast chicken & gravy, carrot & parsnip puree, and roasted Brussels sprouts. Yep, it’s the exact lunch I ate yesterday from the same bowl. Why mess with a good thing?

Since I had a couple hours to kill before the kids came home, I made a conscious decision to bake Paleo pumpkin, coconut, & maple custard cups instead of folding the mountains of laundry piled on the bed in the guest room.

I definitely have my priorities straight.

In the evening, we hosted a few impromptu play dates – Big-O hung with his friend, Z, and I chilled out with R and Z’s mom.

For dinner, I made the same mini burgers as last night but I served them with three different contorni.

I roasted radicchio in the oven…

stir-fried spigarello and bacon

…and made a quick tomato salad…

…before frying up the beef patties.

Time to get some zzz’s!

About Michelle Tam

Hello! My name is Michelle Tam, and I love to eat. I think about food all the time. It borders on obsession. I’ve always loved the sights and smells of the kitchen. My mother was (and is) an excellent cook, and as a kid, I was her little shadow as she prepared supper each night. From her, I gained a deep, abiding love for magically transforming pantry items into mouth-watering family meals.
